Course Description:
 Healthcare Essentials is an advanced course in the Health Services and Medical Technology industry sector and is aimed at all students interested in pursuing a career in health care. The course covers the common set of skills and knowledge needed by all healthcare workers, and prepares students for the more-advanced, occupation-specific courses offered in this field. Instruction covers medical terminology, communications skills, socioeconomics, safety and health maintenance, body structure and function, and ethical and legal responsibilities. The course is designed to help students determine their specific area of interest, and students will develop individual career portfolios consistent with their aspirations in the field of health care.

Paid and unpaid internships are part of the course curriculum.
