Education, Child Development, and Family Services Industry Sector

Career Pathways offered by San Diego Unified:

The Education, Child Development, and Family Services sector provides students with the academic and technical preparation to pursue high-skills, high-demand occupations in these related and growing fields. The sector encompasses four distinct, but interrelated career pathways; three of which are offered by the San Diego Unified School District. The Child Development pathway provides students with the skills and knowledge they need to pursue careers in child care and related fields; the Education pathway emphasizes preparing students to become teachers; and the Family and Human Services pathway provides students with skills needed for careers in family and social services. The standards are designed to integrate academic and career technical concepts. The components of the pathways support classroom and laboratory instruction and provide supervised, work-based learning experiences and leadership development.
