Course Description: | |
Performing Arts Portfolio courses are capstone CTE courses for the Performing Arts career pathway in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry sector. These courses are designed to prepare students to successfully demonstrate they are college and career ready by applying all aspects of being a professional artist learned in the three subsequent courses in this pathway. More specifically, students will demonstrate readiness in their art field in two different ways 1) An audition portfolio will be prepared and presented in a formal assessment that demonstrates College Readiness. 2) A final production/performance that is guided by the professional, Resident Teaching Artist (RTA) and will be presented to the public after professional adjudication. Through two, semester-long units, students will participate in real-life scenarios by auditioning for a career, college, and/or conservatory. Students will also expand their artistic repertoire through the RTA’s unique art focus, career knowledge, and experiences. Students will demonstrate the application of the learned skills from the foundation and intermediate courses in this pathway. Students will participate in professional internships and performance opportunities, as well as demonstrate an understanding of the work ethic it takes in securing and keeping a job in the performing arts industry. | |
