Course Description:
 General Work Experience Education offers students supervised part-time paid employment with the intent of assisting them in acquiring desirable work habits and attitudes in real jobs. Students must be 16 years old or older, unless this requirement is waived on the principal’s recommendation. Part-time jobs held by students need not be related to their occupational goals. To earn credit, a student must work a minimum of 15 hours per week with at least nine hours between Monday and Friday and a minimum of 200 hours over a 10-week period. The equivalent of one period a week of related instruction or counseling is required for all students enrolled in this program. One elective credit per semester may be granted, up to a maximum of eight credits. These credits may be applied towards graduation requirements and qualify students for California Scholarship Federation (CSF) eligibility.
