Course Description:
 Exploratory Work Experience Education is nonpaid work experience. Its purpose is career guidance and career planning assistance for students. It offers students opportunities to explore various work stations systematically in order to ascertain their suitability for employment in these occupations.

The work experience is not intended to teach production skills of any kind, and the student must not take the place of a paid employee. A maximum of 75 hours within one semester is required for the student to receive one credit. A maximum of four credits may be applied toward elective graduation requirements. The course qualifies the student for California Scholarship Federation (CSF) eligibility. The student is considered an employee of the San Diego Unified School District, and the district carries workers’ compensation insurance while the student is enrolled. The equivalent of one period a week of related instruction or counseling is required for students enrolled in this program. See Administrative Procedure 4126 for a list of forms and requirements.
