Course Description:
 

Students in this course examine the roles of social workers, mediators, advocates, and law enforcement officials as peacekeepers and problem solvers in society.

Students begin with an introspective look at themselves. They study brain science as it pertains to conflict and conflict resolution. They then use this knowledge to explore the ideology that drives careers in various fields of public service. Students develop a deeper understanding of the specific requirements and physical and emotional demands unique to these career fields. They ultimately apply the knowledge they gain by participating in service-learning projects that require them to move beyond the classroom in their outreach efforts.
