Course Description: | |
This course is designed to give students an opportunity to acquire advanced laboratory research techniques and skills. Students will develop the laboratory skills, critical thinking, and communication skills currently used in the biotechnology industry. Through extensive reading, laboratory work, industry field trips, job shadows, and other workplace experiences, including site-based internships, students will evaluate career opportunities in the field of biotechnology.
The course has academic and technical objectives integrated into the curriculum. These objectives are presented and met in a progressive and increasingly sophisticated manner. The course will have as its foundation the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Lab Practices (GLP), which govern all facets of production in the biotechnology industry. | |
