Course Description: | |
This course introduces the elements of art as basic components of visual literacy. Instruction includes identity and description of line, basic geometric shapes, eight basic colors, and “form” as a term indicating three dimensions. Students recognize and describe simple patterns in the environment and in works of art. They demonstrate beginning skill in the use of art tools (graphite and colored pencils, crayons, watercolor and tempera paint, scissors, glue, and clay) to express feelings and ideas. This course provides the opportunity for students to make art in collaboration with others and individually, describe what an image represents, and build art vocabulary through discussion on personal portfolios and exhibitions. | |
