Designed for students in Grades 10 and 11, the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) is part of the College Board's series of college readiness assessments that includes ReadiStep™ for middle school grades and the SAT® for Grades 11 and 12. In addition to helping students prepare for the SAT® and plan for college and careers, the PSAT/NMSQT® enables eligibility for Grade 11 students seeking to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions.
In fall 2017, students in the class-of 2020 in district-managed schools were given the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT®. Subject scores are reported on a 160 to 760 scale for evidence-based reading and writing (EBRW) and mathematics; composite scores range from 320 to 1520 points.
