Visual and Performing Arts Standards and Framework |

Instruction in the visual and performing arts reflects the conceptual shifts of the California Arts Standards, adopted in January 2019. The new standards are designed like a spiral, in which students increase and deepen their artistic literacy, creativity, and critical thinking skills at each level, and will emerge ready to engage in a lifetime of arts experiences and appreciation. Students who complete a sequenced four-course arts pathway will be prepared for college, career, or conservatory, and receive a VAPA honor graduation cord. The California Arts Standards for Public Schools, Prekindergarten Through Grade Twelve was adopted by the State Board of Education on January 9, 2019.
