AVID

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college readiness system and is offered as a series of academic, regularly scheduled elective classes that use reading and writing as tools for learning. The AVID system incorporates the strategies of writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading to support students. The three main components of the AVID elective are academic instruction (AVID curriculum), tutorial support, and motivational activities. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
