Course Description: | |
This course investigates what is happening in the United States and the world today, including significant events, behind-the-scenes causes, who’s who, and future trends. It teaches students how to effectively gather accurate information by studying primary sources, such as the radio, television, social media and the web, newspaper, and maps. Students will also learn about news literacy, bias, and threats to freedom of the press. The knowledge gained will help students examine and think critically about what happens in the world around them—and how to understand their place in a complex world. | |
