By the end of grade 3, students understand that energy and matter have multiple forms and can be changed from one form to another; light has a source and travels in a direction; adaptations in physical structure or behavior may improve an organism’s chance for survival; living organisms depend on one another and on their environment for survival; and objects in the sky move in regular and predictable patterns. Students repeat observations to collect accurate data, make predictions, analyze the data, compare results, and develop logical conclusions. They understand that scientific investigation is based on evidence, not opinion. |
