Course Description:
 Naval Science 3. This is the third in a series of four NJROTC courses. It may be taken in grades 11 or 12. While still instructed in core areas such as leadership, fitness and wellness, these students will also be evaluated in each of the following subject areas:
  • Naval Knowledge
    • Sea power and national security
    • The U.S. Merchant Marine
    • Naval operations, communications, and intelligence
    • Naval logistics
    • Naval research and development
    • Military law
    • International law
  • Naval Skills
    • Ship construction and damage control
    • Shipboard organization and watch-standing
    • Seamanship
    • Nautical rules of the road
    • Navigation and time
    • The Maneuvering Board
    • Naval gunnery
    • Naval aircraft and missiles
  • Public Speaking/Effective Communications
