Course Description:
 Naval Science 1. This is the first in a series of four NJROTC courses. It may be taken in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12. Students will be evaluated in each of the following subject areas:
  • Introduction to the NJROTC course
  • Leadership/Followership
  • Citizenship
  • Foundations of our government
  • Navy ships
  • Naval Aviation
  • NJROTC uniform program
  • NJROTC rates/ranks; U.S. Navy rates/ranks
  • Military customs, courtesies, etiquette, and ceremonies
  • Introduction to military drill
  • Health education
  • Physical fitness and exercise
  • First aid
  • Orienteering
  • Chain of command
  • Orders to the sentry
