| Course Description: |
| | Journalism with English Language Development (ELD)
is a standards-aligned designated ELD course designed
to strengthen English learners’ academic literacy through
the study and practice of journalism. In this course,
students develop reading, writing, speaking, and
listening skills by investigating topics relevant to their
school and community and producing original news
articles. Students learn the principles of journalism,
including researching credible sources, conducting
interviews, analyzing informational texts, and writing
clear, factual reports. Instruction emphasizes the
development of academic language, critical thinking, and
collaboration through authentic communication tasks. |
