Course Description:
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Design Technology Higher Level (HL) course is a challenging program focused on design thinking and innovation. Students explore the design cycle, from inquiry and analysis through development, creation, and evaluation of solutions.

The curriculum emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating practical skills with theoretical knowledge of design principles, ergonomics, and sustainable design practice. HL students engage in deeper analysis of complex design scenarios and global impacts of technology.

A significant component is the internally assessed design project, where students identify a real-world problem, design a solution, and produce a prototype. External assessments include exams covering core material and HL-specific extensions. The course aims to develop students’ critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of the role of design in society. To learn more, detailed subject information is available on the official International Baccalaureate website.
