| Course Description: | |
| Patient Care is a comprehensive course within the CTE Patient Care Pathway that develops students’ knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies for careers in the healthcare field. With a focus on both theory and practical application, students learn the professional norms, skills, and competencies required in healthcare settings. This interdisciplinary course integrates concepts from social science, biological science, mathematics, and physical science and is based on core
academic and CTE standards. Students analyze case studies and examine ethics and procedures in clinical settings while developing foundational and applied skills in patient care. Topics include healthcare occupations, safety and infection control, human body systems, medical terminology, documentation, communication, and patient assessment. Through hands-on learning, simulations, and real-world applications, students develop competencies in vital signs, infection control, documentation, and professional communication. Students may earn CPR and First Aid certifications and develop a digital portfolio showcasing their skills and career readiness. | |
