Course Description:
 Jazz Combo 7,8 Honors is the culmination of the musical education of the advanced musician within a jazz combo setting (5-12 musicians). Students will demonstrate independent performing alone and in small groups, making appropriate personal choices of tone, interpretation, and musicality, and developing an expanded knowledge of advanced technique and vocabulary. They will compare jazz styles and influences from North and South America and create complex compositions and improvisations. Capstone projects cover music solo selection and written analysis (Semester 1) and recital performance and evaluation (Semester 2).
