Course Description: | |
Honors Film Arts explores the art of film through historical, technical, and stylistic perspectives. Students will examine the evolution of film from its inception to modern developments, including world cinema. The course covers classic and emerging genres such as drama, western, science fiction, crime, animation, musicals, and action/adventure. Students will also study the craft of filmmaking, focusing on techniques, innovations, and the unique styles of influential directors. Through hands-on projects, they will engage in the film production process, including technique, creative expression, presentation, evaluation, and connection. Additionally, the course addresses ethical and environmental considerations in cinema, fostering thoughtful analysis and critical engagement. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to evaluate films confidently and participate in the filmmaking process with creativity and insight. | |
