Peer Tutor 1,2 (8366, 8367)

Course Description:
 This course trains students to provide tutorial support to students in grades 9-11 at their site who may be struggling and could benefit from a peer-tutoring approach. Tutors are taught instructional and organization strategies that can be used to support their peers. Tutors also have the opportunity to share strategies that have helped them to be successful students. Classroom teachers supervise tutors and provide ongoing training and oversight throughout the duration of the course. Students’ peer-tutoring responsibilities include participating in tutor training, completing course assessments, coaching peers, sharing instructional and organizational strategies that have been successful for them as students, and celebrating successes.
