Course Description: | |
Essential Principles of Economics 1 is a one-period history-social
science course intended for students with cognitive disabilities in
grades 9-12 or adult transition who are eligible to take the California
Alternative Assessment (CAA). This course will provide
evidence-based instruction aligned with alternate achievement
standards, called the Core Content Connectors (CCCs). This course deepens students’ understanding of the economic problems and institutions of the nation and the world. Students learn to make reasoned decisions on economic issues through the study of fundamental economic concepts, comparative economic systems, microeconomics, macroeconomics and international economics. Principles of Economics also includes the district-approved financial literacy curriculum, which helps students learn the connection between career and income as well as how to file taxes, budget money, and manage bank accounts, credit cards, and credit scores. Adaptations, modifications and access to assistive technologies will be available based on the assessed needs of individual students and may incorporate the functional application of skills that include community based components to promote generalization of skills and independence. | |
