Course Description: | |
The purpose of the American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response course is to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an emergency medical responder (EMR) to help sustain life, reduce pain and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until more advanced medical help takes over. The course content meets or exceeds the 2008 Emergency Medical Services Educational Standards for Emergency Medical Responders. The care steps outlined within this product are consistent with the 2015 International Consensus on CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science with Treatment Recommendations, 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC, 2015 American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines Update for First Aid. The course content and activities will prepare participants to make appropriate decisions about the care to provide in a medical emergency. The course teaches the skills an EMR needs to act as a crucial link in the emergency medical services (EMS) system. This course is designed for those who are in the Public Service Industry, (i.e. Law Enforcement, Private Security, School Safety, etc.), the Health Science and Medical Technologies Industry, (i.e.: ambulance drivers and attendants, LVN’s, CNA’s, Recreational Facilities, etc.) and the general public (i.e. C.E.R.T., home care, day care centers, etc.), Construction Industry (i.e. First Aid Teams, Emergency Response Teams, Accident Investigation Teams), and those individuals who want to increase their knowledge and skills. | |
