Course Description: | |
In this course students analyze significant periods in world history, from the Greek and Roman eras through the modern post Cold War world, while building the basic skills of graphic design. They demonstrate knowledge of historical content by creating art that uses the elements and principles of design. Students use such major world events as revolutions, wars, and globalization as the inspiration for design projects to synthesize their historical knowledge in cohesive assignments that are both content-driven and conceptual. They produce a series of artistic products that reflect their comprehension of both historical content and relevant design skills. They integrate the study of traditional texts, primary source resources, technology manuals, digital media sources, appropriate era artwork, and tutorials to demonstrate their knowledge of both design and world history. Upon completion of this course, students will have completed their world history graduation requirement and be prepared to take additional design courses. | |
