Course Description:
 As a course within an integrated learning high school based on solving engineering solutions and design challenges. Design Thinking 3,4 will connect student learning among the various courses and projects through the research, reading, reflection, discussion, and writing about concepts that drive students’ exploration of the questions they pose. Building on what was developed in Design Thinking 1,2 with text analysis and written and spoken communication skills, each unit in the course further prepares the students for college and career as independent, innovative, and reflective thinkers. To this end, the course’s scope, content, and methodology are designed and sequenced in a way that ensures that students expand and deepen their abilities to examine and analyze a wide range of literary and informational text as well as extended non-fiction literary text, strengthen their foundational understanding of the various types of writing styles available for academic writing, and access, use and attribute electronic sources for research.
