Course Description: | |
Students will study the core principles of musical theatre from the actor’s perspective. Skills related to musical theatre will be developed through various exercises and assignments. The course will include presenting and discussing musical theatre history, how this style of theater has changed over the years, and the social relevance of this performance art. The course is both academic and performance-based, designed to teach students the foundations of musical theater techniques and literature. Students will study acting, vocal, movement, and musical audition techniques across several styles. The culminating project for each semester will be a performance of a solo song/scene to give students a full musical theater experience and assess the skills studied in class. | |
