Course Description:
 History of the Americas IB HL1 is a multi-perspective and demanding critical exploration focusing on both domestic and foreign policies. To allow for depth of study and recognition of variation in causality and consequences, students will synthesize content instructed on and gathered through independent scholarly research. The content is analyzed through inquiry-based structures including:
1. the development of historical questions,
2. the evaluation or primary and secondary sources,
3. interpretation of political cartoons,
4. a multi-perspective approach through the study of historiography,
5. an emphasis on the significance of historical context including time and place,
6. analysis of content using IB’s 6 Key Concepts of continuity, change, causation, consequence, significance, and perspective
7. the application of content to the major building blocks of societies and historical scopes of politics, ideology, economics, and society
