 Big History earns elective credit toward high school graduation because it is not aligned to the state standards for history–social science. Big History provides a solid foundation for the World History, which is a graduation requirement.
Course Description:
 This elective ninth-grade survey course explores the history of the universe and how individuals fit into it, the stars and planets, Earth and its inhabitants, humans and human society, industrialism, to today. It seeks to find patterns and meaning, using the widest base of historical phenomena/scientific history by examining historic events or processes. This course hones students’ critical thinking and analysis skills and prepares them to take advanced-level courses later.
