Course Description:
 The Junior Model United Nations is an elective course that provides students with an opportunity to research and analyze topics that are not part of the regular curriculum. It will also teach them to think critically about the world in which they live.

Students in this course will participate in group discussions, learn about the issues and problems confronting other countries and the United Nations, analyze different points of view, develop and defend their own resolutions to address major world issues, communicate their research and analyses to their peers, and become effective leaders. They will also participate in the local Junior Model United Nations conference.

The course uses a variety of teaching methods, including Socratic seminars, journal writing, oral debates, mock trials, analysis of primary and secondary sources of information, close reading, and analysis with partners and in groups.
